Why do People go Bald and Experience Hair Loss?

Losing Hair is normal for all of us but if it’s too much, there’s something that is not right in our body.

There are two main factors why people get bald, the first one is Hormones. A Hormone (according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary) is a natural substance that is produced in the body and that influences the way the body grows or develops.

Men have Testosterone in their body and there’s a big chance that the testosterone (hormone) in their body will turn into DHT (Dihydrotestosterone).

They are destined to lose their Hair in a certain pattern because of DHT in their body.

Male and Female Pattern Baldness

Male-Pattern Baldness starts from the temples of the head, to the top of the forehead and lastly to the top of their scalp.

Women are not exempted in this balding process; they too will lose their hair but not as early as men.

Women have less Testosterone than Men and also, they have Estrogen that masks their Testosterone for them not to lose their hair and to weaken the effect of DHT.

The Balding process is not only caused by hormones, it is also a result of genetics.

Both Men and Women have genes in their body called X-Chromosome. The X-Chromosome is the gene connected with the growth of our hair so whatever version of the genes they’ve inherited on that chromosome will be probably expressed in their body.

Men only have one X-Chromosome which means that if the chromosome that they inherited from their parents will be transferred to them.

Females on the other hand, have two X-Chromosomes which mean that they have a big chance that the bald gene that inherited can be masked by the other chromosome.

Hair has no living cell; the whole strand is just a shiny, long and beautiful dead material. Even though the strands of Hair in our head are dead, the base holding it and preventing it to be removed is alive.

So when a hair is removed or when it’s too short for those veins to hold on to, new hair will be formed because of the nutrients given by the body to the base of the hair strands.
